In a pan add oil and heat it up then add sliced onions, salt and then let them turn golden brown, reserve few for garnish.
Then add tomatoes and cook them until they are nice and soft and then start adding the masalas - red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and garam masala.
Check the daal and add some water to it if you needed.
